We are seeking an exceptional Executive Director to join our team and help lead the operational, financial, and administrative aspects of our synagogue. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that Temple Sinai continues to thrive as a center for Jewish life while supporting our mission, vision, and values.

Principal Accountabilities
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial management to ensure the synagogue’s mission and goals are effectively achieved. In close collaboration with the Rabbi, Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers, the Executive Director will foster a dynamic and thriving environment while effectively overseeing daily operations, finances, technology and human capital.
- People Management – supervise all non-clergy staff, promote professional development, implement change management and oversee administration of volunteer activities while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for staff and volunteers
- Operations Management – oversee all daily operations and administration of synagogue, including technology, project management, security, vendors, and maintenance and improvement of facilities/grounds.
- Financial Management – develop and manage annual budgets, oversee bookkeeping, payroll, reporting, fund management, expense management; support and implement fundraising strategies and processes.
- Congregational Engagement – build and maintain strong relationships with synagogue members, leaders, Board of Trustees; oversee program and event implementation.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, facilities, operations, finances
- Professional temperament, empathy, interpersonal skills
- Independent self-starter, who can balance multiple priorities
- Attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to collaborate with others in managing large events
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Proficiency in leveraging technology for operations management (e.g. CRM systems)
- Forward thinking, flexible and driven; able to take initiative and identify areas of need in short- and long-term.
- Solid understanding of synagogue life, including Jewish traditions, rituals and holidays
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Proven experience (5+ years) in senior leadership role, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization
- Experience in facilities management
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, expense management and fundraising
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, leaders, volunteers, and community organizations
