Religious School Director
Location: Roslyn Heights, NY 11577
Temple Beth Sholom seeks a full-time Religious School Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Religious School and hold a key role in the continued success of our program. The Religious School Director promotes a love of Judaism and personal connection to Jewish learning and living. This position begins on July 1, 2025.
Temple Beth Sholom is a Conservative Egalitarian Synagogue in Roslyn NY, in the heart of the North Shore of Long Island, serving about 550 families. Temple Beth Sholom is dedicated to the principles of lifelong Jewish learning. Built on principles of Torah, we strive to inspire learners at every age to live a vibrant Jewish life in the home, within the congregation, and in the greater Jewish community.
We are seeking a gifted educator who:
• Is knowledgeable and passionate about Jewish education and fostering community
• Is creative, organized, energetic and collaborative
• Is able to recruit, hire, train and supervise staff while maintaining a positive working environment with teachers, students, families and clergy
• Inspires students with innovative teaching practices
Job Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate registration for the Religious School and promote enrollment growth.
• Coordinate the day-to-day activities and class schedules for the Religious School.
• Oversee school curriculum.
• Personalize curriculum to meet the learning needs of all students.
• Evaluate student progress in coordination with teachers.
• Communicate regularly with parents.
• Build on existing family Shabbat services and special programming.
• Supervise and provide professional development for staff.
• Collaborate with clergy and lay leaders.
• Work with the high school and B’nai Mitzvah Coordinators
• Manage annual budget
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
• Master’s Degree in Jewish education or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
• 3-5+ years professional experience in an education field
• Proven excellence as a classroom teacher
• Experience leading and managing a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Jewish Studies, tefillah and Hebrew Language
Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
