Job Description: Brandeis Marin is looking for a full-time Director of Jewish Life and Learning who will oversee Jewish life at the school, including:
- - working with colleagues to implement an innovative and creative Jewish Studies curriculum that integrates universal Jewish values and Jewish Studies into our school programs
- - teaching Middle School Jewish Studies classes (grades 6-8)
- - facilitating weekly schoolwide Tefillah and holiday programming
- - coordinating our annual 8th-grade trip to Israel
Qualified applicants must have experience teaching Jewish Studies and in middle school education, a collaborative work ethic and warm demeanor, and eligibility to work in the United States.
Ideal candidate:
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Tanach, Rabbinic literature, Jewish history, and Israel education, as well as an excellent command of progressive pedagogies, including experiential and project-based learning. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching Jewish Studies and middle school education. Additionally, we are looking for candidates who have experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership and demonstrate a growth mindset, collaborative style, proven commitment to excellence, and a strong work ethic. Finally, ideal candidates will be comfortable with all denominations of Jewish practice and respectful of each, able to model respect for a wide range of Jewish beliefs and practices as well as cultural diversity.

This is a unique opportunity to create a vibrant and creative Jewish community while integrating Jewish learning and culture into a rigorous, project-based curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Primary responsibilities include:
- - Provide vision and oversight of experiential, project-based Jewish learning program, including curriculum implementation, review, and evaluation
- - Teach Jewish Studies in 6th-8th grades
- - Plan and facilitate weekly Tefillah and holiday programming with a small team of Jewish studies teachers
- - Work closely with faculty, staff, and senior administration to plan schoolwide programming
- - Coordinate the 8th-grade trip to Israel
The requirements for the position include:
- - Bachelor's Degree (Masters in Education or related field preferred)
- - 5+ years prior teaching experience in K-8 education
- - Familiarity with 21st-century educational principles
Details:
