BTBJ is seeking a Communications Coordinator and Office Associate

Beth Tikvah B’nai Jeshurun is a warm and welcoming Conservative synagogue located in Montgomery County, PA. We are looking for a Communications Coordinator and Office Associate to support internal and external marketing of programs and events, as well as perform general office administrative tasks. This position should be able to interface with office staff, clergy, lay leadership and congregants in a professional manner, have experience working in an office environment, and the ability to work in a variety of communication platforms. The applicant should have meticulous attention to detail, be proficient at multitasking and have strong computer, written and oral communication skills. This position is an onsite, part time job, 25 hours a week, with a starting salary of $26,000.
This position will be a first point of contact and provide a welcoming face to people coming to our synagogue. They may also provide administrative support to the Rabbi, Director of Congregational Music, Executive Director, and Synagogue President. A successful candidate is organized, skilled in personal relations, uses judgment in prioritizing demands, and keeps all office matters confidential.
Job responsibilities for the Communications Coordinator and Office Associate include, but are not limited to:
Communication planning, content creation, and copywriting.
Write clear, compelling copy for various mediums to inform and engage target audiences, including: handouts for services and holidays, flyers, social media graphics, gifs, videos, and other marketing assets, and maintain, and distribute synagogue newsletter.
Proofread and edit content provided by staff and congregants.
Collaborate on social media content planning, creation, implementation and publication.
Maintain website (ShulCloud platform) assuring it is current, accurate, and uses SEO to maximize reach.
Support Executive Director with maintaining an online calendar.
Support Programming Coordinator in the distribution of communications across channels.
Office Administration:
Greet visitors and members in a friendly and welcoming manner at the front desk.
Answer and screen synagogue phone calls and door entries.
Assist Rabbi to manage personal calendar, email flow, and communications.
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and lay leadership.
Assist with setup of religious services, board meetings and other synagogue events, as needed.

Self-starter who is organized and proactive.
Skills and knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Canva, Vimeo, Zoom, Youtube, Calendly, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge of ShulCloud, Quark and Constant Contact preferred but not required.
Proficiency with html.
Experience working in an office setting.
Familiarity with Jewish customs and/or synagogue experience a plus.
