Monmouth County Synagogue Seeks an Operations Manager
Full Time or 3/4 time work available, Flexible work schedule
Compensation: $45,000 - $65,000
Commensurate with skill & experience

Congregation B’nai Israel, "The Orthodox Synagogue for All Jews," located in Manalapan NJ, seeks an Operations Manager to join our leadership team. This position is a great opportunity for an enterprising professional to have a large impact on a dynamic Jewish organization that touches lives every day.

The Operations Manager will play a pivotal management role in our non-profit organization, and our mission to build a center of community life.

The successful candidate will work closely with our rabbi, staff and volunteers helping to execute many of our vital projects and programs. In addition, they will demonstrate an ability to anticipate key needs and facilitate solutions.

The Operations Manager will help manage and oversee several key interrelated areas of congregational life. Responsibility Areas Include:

  1. Non-Profit Management
     Promote environment of operational excellence, teamwork and collaboration
     Provide oversight to daily operations, coordinate and align staff
     Project management and oversight
     Serve as a liaison between synagogue and membership
     Oversee building and office inventory, interact with vendors
     Plan & facilitate welcoming lobby with flyers, notices and signs
     Hire part time staff where needed
     Facilitate staff meetings
     Work with and engage volunteer leaders

  2. Office Management
     Provide efficient office management
     Develop and maintain organizational systems
     Welcome people at the door
     Answer phones, provide support and assistance
     Execute mailings, billings and printings, make copies
     Facilitate acknowledgement letters
     Outsource office tasks on an as needed basis
     Input data into cloud-based systems
     Financial tasks, deposits, mail pick up
     Provide technical support for daily operations
     Facilitate online shopping
     Facilitate meetings via web-based scheduling tools
     Schedule cleanings of facility when needed

  3. Membership & Annual Campaign
     Manage member relations, serving members on a personal level
     Work with Rabbi and Board to support annual campaign
     Plan and implement membership services (ie. brochure, Membership Directory…)
     Work with Rabbi & Membership Chair to support membership recruitment
     Facilitate fundraising programs (Kol Nidrei Appeal, Mishloach Manot)
     Solicit sponsorships and donations for programs and Kiddushes
     Engage with and thank donors
     Fundraising administration, pledge collection follow-up
     Initiate, plan and execute web-based donations

  4. PR & Communications
     Advertise and recruit for programs
     Keep community informed via WhatsApp and social media regarding pertinent information
     Facilitate email distribution via Constant Contact
     Boost ads on Facebook and other social media
     Identify and utilize PR opportunities, such as advertising in Jewish publications, The Jewish Link
     Plan and facilitate onsite communications, including parking lot sign and lawn signs
     Manage quarterly publication of “The Voice”
     Oversee data base development
     Facilitate community text messages
     Provide website updates
     Community calendar maintenance

 Team player with strong organization skills and strong attention to detail
 Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness, working proactively to anticipate and address key needs
 Ability to welcome and engage people in the organization
 Excellent communication skills
 Demonstrates team leadership skills
 Ability to manage multiple complex project-based jobs to completion
 Technical ability and adaptability to help operate a non-profit office

Qualifications
 3+ years-experience in business or non-profit management is required, or other relevant experience
 BA or BS from an accredited college or university is required
 Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
 Experience working with social media platforms
 Familiarity with cloud-based data bases (such as ShulCloud)
 Experience managing tasks to successful and on-time completion
