Maimonides School is a modern Orthodox day school located in Brookline, MA. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Dean of Students for our Elementary School for the 2024-25 academic year.
The Dean of Students is a key leader on the school’s Instructional Leadership Team. He/She is responsible for extending and deepening our culture of caring, thoughtfulness, and derech eretz (ethical behavior) among the children and adults of the Elementary School. The successful candidate will bring a clear understanding of the social and emotional needs of students at different ages, and experience in integrating these values and vision into a comprehensive learning environment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Consistently demonstrate visible, active leadership in the daily life of the school. Embrace the school’s core values and standards for professionalism. Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the academic success and personal development of our students.

  2. Refine, monitor, and oversee the elementary (K-5) school wide behavior management system.

  3. Support and coach teachers and other faculty in effective classroom management, and elementary school wide execution of the school’s social emotional learning (SEL) curricula.

  4. Recommend and implement behavior-specific professional development programs and initiatives.

  5. Recommend, implement and oversee student-centered practices that enhance learning and student growth.

  6. Regularly and effectively communicate with families to help support students learning and development.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required, plus minimum 4 years teaching experience, preferably with students with significant behavioral needs.
• Masters Degree in Mental Health Degree required. (School Counselor, Psychologist, LMHC, LCSW)
• Track record of exemplary classroom management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving communication and negotiating skills.
• An eagerness to set ambitious, challenging, and tangible goals, and a relentless drive to achieve them.
• An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, along with a capacity to remain calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges.
• Proven ability to lead by example, effectively support adults, and proactively seek feedback.
