The Israel Partnership Coordinator with the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford is responsible for managing Federation’s Partnership Initiatives with Afula/Gilboa (Central Galilee) and Kibbutz Sufa (Western Negev), including strengthening the connections between our communities.
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Impact
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Year 1

  1. Develop and manage key relationships with stakeholders in each partnership (for Sufa, includes Jewish Agency, Kibbutz leadership and other Israel based partners; for Afula/Gilboa, includes Jewish Agency personnel, Israel based steering committee and other participating federations in CT and Western Mass).
  2. Maintain ongoing communication with the contact persons in the communities and with Partnership volunteers in Israel and abroad.
  3. Develop annual and quarterly goals for each partnership related to impact allocations, people to people programming, marketing, and communications.
  4. Assess impact investments in each region.
  5. Initiate and plan projects for youth and adults aimed at advancing the mutual relationship with the Partnership communities, and in particular projects that address Jewish identity and resilience. Initiation of projects is likely to commence in year 2.
  6. Convene lay committee to help manage Sufa initiative.
  7. Marketing/publicity related to partnership activities in collaboration with Marketing Department.
  8. Prepare periodic status and implementation reports.
  9. Coordinate mission(s) to Israel that include visits to Partnership communities.
  10. Handling the different aspects of incoming and outgoing delegations, recruitment of participants, planning visits; implementing programs; escorting delegations.
  11. Initiate and implement programs for former/current delegation participants, maintain contact with them, all to leverage the relationship between the two communities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree (Master preferred)
• Strong Judaic knowledge required
• Hebrew-language proficiency preferred
• Knowledge of the Greater Hartford Jewish Community preferred
• Strong cultural understanding of Israel

Experience:
• Experience developing and leading impact projects and programs
• Ability to manage budget
• Experience with Jewish communal life, particularly Jewish education and engagement
• Experience developing the trust of senior and experienced volunteers

• Deep appreciation for and an ability to articulate powerfully the values and vision of Federation
• Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in writing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Strong Jewish perspective that is pluralistic and inclusive
• Fosters and maintains effective, collaborative relationships with the community
• Knowledge of the key issues facing the Jewish community, including prior engagement/leadership in Jewish organizations
• Ability to organize, monitor, and track numerous ongoing and one-time activities events and projects
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness and ability to travel to Israel and work with groups in partnership communities
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
