Cook's Assistant
Location: New York City, NY 10033
Moriah Senior Center seeks Cook's Assistant.
Monday-Thursday 9 am – 4 pm Fridays 9 am – 2 pm
Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager/Chef the Assistant
Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking and service and
upholding all sanitation standards set forth by the NYC DOHMH
and DFTA.
Responsibilities: ● Prepare, cook and assist with portioning and
serving of food ● Maintain safe handling and proper temperature
control of prepared foods. ● Ensure functioning and cleaning of
kitchen, kitchen equipment and pots/trays, dining areas, and adherence to
sanitation standards. ● Assist in taking monthly physical
inventory and maintaining order of food storage area. ● Attend
training as requested by the Director. ● In the absence of the
Kitchen Manager/Chef assume the responsibilities for
coordination of Kitchen. ● Maintaining Moriah’s kashrut standards
under guidance of Moriah’s Rabbinic authority ● Must have, or be
willing to obtain a Food Protection Certificate ● Ability to lift up to
50 lbs. ● Ability to stand for a large portion of the shift ● Ability to
read, write and speak English ● Computer literate ● Knowledge of
Kashrut food supervision and preparation
