Middle School Director
Location: Mamaroneck, NY 10543
Responsibilities Include:
-Supporting teachers in using a wide variety of teaching strategies to differentiate instruction to support a range of learners.
-Creating and maintaining a positive, collaborative culture among Middle School faculty.
-Representing the interests of the Middle School as part of the Educational Leadership Team.
-Implementing policies, procedures and/or processes to ensure student academic / social-emotional needs are met.
-Communicating effectively and positively with parents, teachers and members of the school community.
-Managing the high school admissions process (parents, high schools, mock interviews, proofread high school letters of recommendation, admissions and placement meetings with high schools).
-Coordinating logistics, budget and schedules for efficient operation of the Middle School
-Collaborating with a diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the mission of Westchester Day School.
Qualifications:
Strong candidates are experienced school leaders who are familiar with the social, emotional, behavioral and cognitive development of pre-adolescents. They are well-versed in current teaching pedagogy and demonstrate a passion for teaching. Candidates are responsible, professional, and energetic; and work well with children and adults. The candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and collaborative environment that cultivates learning. Candidates should have experience teaching and a commitment to work as part of a collaborative team. A Master’s degree or equivalent is preferred. Candidates for all positions should demonstrate a positive and professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an openness to feedback.
Compensation: This is a full-time position. Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. ($100 - 120K)
