Religious School Principal
Location: Bowie, MD 20716
Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation in Bowie, Maryland serving Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Calvert counties and the surrounding area, is seeking a Religious School Principal. The approximately 200-family congregation enrolls 75 - 100 children in its Sunday morning Pre-K through Grade 12 religious school. As a member of the congregation’s leadership, the Principal will report directly to the Temple Board and work collaboratively with both the Rabbi and Education Committee to design, administer, direct, and supervise the educational programs.
The Principal is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and leadership of the religious school. The desired candidate will help educate students and support teachers in the implementation of the Shalom Learning curriculum. The individual manages the school, including recruiting, hiring, and supervising teachers, staff and interns. The Principal proposes the annual budget for the religious school to the Temple Board, monitors expenditures, and provides a monthly report to the Temple’s Budget and Finance Committee. The individual is also responsible for ordering and maintaining books and supplies for the religious school.
The Principal should be comfortable interacting and working with a wide range of individuals, both in the school and the greater community, as a representative of Temple Solel and the Religious School to create a positive Jewish experience for the students and families.

• Enthusiasm and desire to create a warm and welcoming environment and enrich the already engaged community at Temple Solel through Religious Education
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Rabbi, Temple Board, religious school families, and the Temple Solel community
• Prior supervisory experience
• Models Jewish values and has a keen understanding of Judaism
• Knowledge of Hebrew
• A degree in Education or Judaic Studies preferred
This is a part-time, 15 hours per week position.
