Eli and Bessie Cohen - Director of Dor L'Dor Israel Program

The Dor L'Dor Israel Program is a united program of the Eli & Bessie Cohen Camps. This unique and innovative leadership development experience is recognized and respected in the Jewish camping world, throughout the United States and in Israel. Current campers who have completed the 10th grade are eligible to experience a memorable 4-week tour of Israel.
Under the direction of the Eli and Bessie Cohen Camps President, the Director leads and promotes the Dor L’Dor program. Working collaboratively with Camp Directors from Pembroke, Tel Noar and Tevya, and the Kadima Leadership program, the Dor L’Dor Director integrates the program’s goals, and manages all functional segments of the Dor L’Dor Program. Tasks include refining the curriculum; meeting with teens and their parents; hiring, training, and mentoring staff; guiding program participants; and working closely with our Israeli partner on program details and Israeli staff training.
The position is full-time in the Wellesley, MA offices. The Director spends summers traveling between Israel, the three Cohen Camps and working out of the Cohen Camps’ offices.
General Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
• Current experiences in leadership or supervisory roles with teenagers, preferably in an experiential education setting. Previous experience in Jewish overnight camp is desirable.
• Passion for informal Jewish and Israel education.
• Record developing personal connections with teenagers.
• Adaptability to work independently, to integrate as a team player, and to collaborate in an international partnership.
• Experience creating and implementing youth leadership programs focused on Jewish identity or Israel education is desirable.
• First-hand knowledge of Israeli culture, history, politics, and geography.
• Effective organizational, communication, and facilitation skills with a diverse group: teens, parents and staff.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends during the year, including travel to Israel for consecutive weeks over the summer, and travel to conferences for professional development.
• Physical requirements include mobility to participate in rustic setting including hikes, stairs, and carry boxes up to 30lbs.
