Director of Development

A Day School in Queens is seeking a Director of Development. The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of the school's fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaign. the Director works closely with the Executive Director, Principal, the President of the Board as well as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

Strong interpersnal and writing skills
Have the ability to work with and motivate our staff, Board members and volunteers
Be able to "get out of the office" to build and cultivate relationships with the community
Display a positive attitude and demonstrate self confidence and good listening abilities when showing concern and outreach in the community
Be a "self starter" showing creativity and be goal driven to initiate donor visits and fund raising calls
Experience in grant writing and fund raising is preferred
Bachelors degree is required
Responsibilities:
Meet perspective donors on a continual basis to establish effective communication
Develop a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation with help of the Board
Oversee grant seeking which includes research and proposal writing
Build a planned giving program focusing on deferred gifts and bequests
Direct the annual fund drive
Direct other fund raising drives
Oversee the fundraising database and tracking system
Maintain and create gift recognition programs ie. benefactor of the day, grandparents and alumni
