Preschool Teacher

Temple Beth Sholom is a small synagogue experiencing significant membership growth. We are a warm and welcoming historic synagogue with a forward thinking membership. We are intentionally unaffiliated to allow for innovated programming alongside tradition in serving our diverse congregation. Our preschool which is licensed for 49 children is looking to increase staffing in anticipation of increasing enrollment after reducing class sizes for COVID-related guidelines.
We are seeking experienced creative, positive, nurturing individuals who are looking for the opportunity to make a difference and have a passion for working with children in a supportive, enthusiastic environment with experience teaching Jewish curriculum.
We have 3 classrooms serving different age groups and each classroom has a lead teacher and two support teachers. We are looking for a support teacher who has interest in personal and professional development toward a lead teacher position.
The successful candidate demonstrates:
A clear knowledge of child growth and development and various learning modalities.
Ability to work positively and respectfully with young children, manage a classroom of 12-20 students.
Curriculum development and lesson planning for your classroom- both indoors and outside, with a balance between child-initiated and teacher directed activities. Incorporate small group and individual activities with whole group instruction.
Support all aspects of the whole child by focusing on language, cognitive skills, physical skills and social-emotional development in an inquiry-based educational
model.
Cooperatively maintain an orderly and attractive environment conducive to the healthy growth, and development of the child.
Relate sensitively to children from diverse racial, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Work supportively with a co-teacher and/or team of teachers.
Ensure positive communication with parents on a daily basis. Hold parent conferences concerning the growth and development of the child.
Participate, as requested, in staff and parent meetings, in-service education and conferences.
Maintain required reports and records.
Understanding of Community Care Licensing Regulations.
Commitment to compliance with any required COVID related safety measures required by legal and health authorities.
Perform other duties as requested by the Preschool Director, or the Temple Beth Sholom Board of Directors
Minimum Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Holds a BA degree in ECE or relevant field
-2 years teaching experience
-12 ECE units or Child Development Associate Permit- Site Permit preferred
-CPR & First Aid Certification
-Negative TB test
-Criminal background clearance
Physical requirements
Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. computer keyboards, filing, etc.)
Standing, sitting, or walking for significant periods of time
Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate
Stooping or kneeling (e.g. to access lower shelves, attend to children, pick items up off the floor, etc.)
Lifting and carrying light loads up to 40 lbs.
Reaching (e.g. reaching to upper shelves, etc.
Because the position includes the occasional need to float to other classrooms/pods, we do require this position to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of start of employment.
