Director Of Engagement And Outreach

Beth Zion - Beth Israel seeks a warm, self-directed, energetic professional to fill the role of the Director of Engagement and Outreach. This is a key position responsible for membership recruitment, engagement, renewal, and retention efforts along with programming and event coordination. The Director will develop and implement strategies to identify and recruit new member prospects, encourage engagement, and identify leadership opportunities for current members. The Director will focus on creating connections and community for BZBI's members through innovative programming, volunteer opportunities, and engagement initiatives that are high quality, inclusive, and aligned with our mission. This Director should be willing to work occasional weekends and evenings as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Membership Recruitment and Retention
-Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and meaningfully engage members; support and guide Membership Engagement Committee and liaise with other thought leaders; maintain and provide status reports on a regular basis.
-Develop outreach strategies for reaching new member prospects
-Manage membership inquiries by welcoming, tracking and following up with prospective members.
-Help ensure that new members are integrated into the BZBI community.
-Build relationships with members, proactively engaging them for ongoing opportunities to learn, grow, and volunteer. Help identify appropriate opportunities for volunteer service that enhances members’ experience.
-Conduct exit interviews of members when necessary.
Programming and Event Coordination
-Work with volunteer leadership to create, implement, support and strategically utilize social action/tikkun olam programming as an opportunity to strengthen and build connections among congregants and to deepen their engagement with BZBI
-Work closely with clergy and administrative staff, manage program calendaring and monitor resource allocation and programming schedule.
-Oversee event logistics for membership and social action/tikkun olam events and programs
-Oversee event logistics for new member buddy program, monthly Shabbat Dinners and weekly Kiddushes
-Work with Department heads to design and implement meaningful programs for their families including fund-raising, social and educational opportunities.
-Develop meaningful programming and engagement opportunities for various cohorts with similar interests to connect and build relationships with one another
Job Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated record of success in similar or relevant positions.
• A knowledge of Jewish practices, holidays, and synagogue community.
• Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, leadership and colleagues.
This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Director and works with various Board Committee Chairs, clergy and staff. Salary is commensurate with experience.
