The Beth Sholom ECC is a child-centered program that is inspired by the educational approach of the preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We believe that children are curious and competent and need a rich learning environment to stimulate their senses and explore the world around them. Our curriculum is also centered around our Jewish curriculum and values. Our school serves children ages 18 months through 5 years. In a typical year, our enrollment is between 70 and 90 children.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Personnel Management – Hiring, training and supervising staff, and providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
Program Management – Ensuring the successful enrollment, advertising, and marketing of the early childhood program, ensuring student retention, and overseeing the assessment of child development and progress.
Professional Growth – Participating in required professional development and overseeing the professional development of the staff, including working alongside consultants and other experts in the field of early education and childcare.
Financial – Preparing and overseeing the ECC budget; seeking out grant opportunities
Curriculum Development and Implementation – Supporting the Curriculum Specialist in developing, implementing and monitoring the curriculum. Partnering with the Beth Sholom clergy to infuse Jewish values, holidays and cultural experiences into the curriculum.
Licensing – Ensuring full compliance with all licensing and safety regulations required by the state and county.
Communication – Communicating with families, staff, PTO, Beth Sholom staff and professionals, congregants, prospective members, and others connected with early childhood engagement.
Engagement and Outreach – Working with Beth Sholom staff and clergy to enhance current experiences and creating additional opportunities for engagement of young families in the congregation and community.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education plus
3 years of experience in an Early Childhood Education center
3 semester hours of approved training, or the equivalent, related to the care of infants and toddlers
Experience with Reggio-inspired preschool strongly preferred
Supervisory experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong commitment to and knowledge of Jewish education

Compensation
$65,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
Reduced ECC tuition for child enrolled at pre-school
