IL, seeking a part-time (30 hours) Synagogue Director.
As a leader in our community you would be responsible for the following:
Involvement in strategic and organizational planning by collaborating with the Rabbi and lay leadership to implement programs and calendar planning, assist committees and other volunteers in performing their functions, provide administrative and logistical support for all holiday and life cycle events, and help committees and volunteers prioritize their efforts.
Overseeing our religious, social, educational and cultural programming.
Maintaining files on all employees and independent contractors, including all contracts, performance reviews, and other pertinent data.
Scheduling and facilitating weekly staff meetings.
Working with the Membership Committee and others to create new ideas to facilitate growth in both our membership and our volunteer opportunities.
Communicate with prospective members and assist in introducing them to our rabbi, staff, and lay leadership.
Oversee and coordinate synagogue communications (newsletter, email, website, etc.) to insure consistent and timely messaging.
Assist in the creation of event pages and registration forms.
Learn and manage ShulCloud our digital membership management system.
Be involved with financial matters such as helping to design, implement, and evaluate fund raising ideas, managing pledges and accurately keeping records of the payment of those pledges via QuickBooks, managing accounts payable, disbursement of payments, and related tasks.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of our building and surrounding grounds.
We expect applicants for this position to have strong communication skills, be willing and able to provide creative ideas and innovative suggestions on how to improve on how we do things, while still being able to perform the day to day tasks required of this position, be willing to work flexible hours, and be able to work well with a diverse group of people.
Familiarity with social media, prior non-profit management experience, supervisory, marketing, fundraising and financial management experience, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, QuickBooks on line or similar accounting packages, and SchulCloud (training can be provided) preferred.
