Position Description: Middle School/Upper Elementary Jewish Studies and Hebrew Teacher
Bornblum Jewish Community School seeks an inspiring Jewish Studies Teacher for Middle School and Upper Elementary grades. The ideal candidate is a charismatic adult who is committed to a child centered and differentiated approach to student learning and achievement. This teacher is creative, hardworking, and flexible enough to move seamlessly between teaching the different disciplines in an elementary classroom. This teacher is a role model for Jewish practice who is comfortable teaching in a Community Jewish Day School setting.
Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience establishing robust partnerships with students, colleagues, parents and local clergy across the movements
• Expertise in using differentiated instruction to reach a range of learners and ability levels
• Strong collaboration skills
• A demonstrated growth-minded approach and commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to teach Jewish texts, including Tanach and Mishna
• Comfort teaching Hebrew language and grammar
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or its equivalent
Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory and targeted to individual learning styles to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential
• Ensure that curriculum and lesson plans are in accordance with established school procedures and pedagogy
• Collaborate with General Studies teachers to achieve optimum outcome for each student
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School
• Provide appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work
• Integrate technology into the teaching-learning process
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
• Participate in all supervisory responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School
• Attend in -services, faculty meetings, teacher workdays, and professional development opportunities
Bornblum Jewish Community School in Memphis, Tennessee has been serving the Jewish community for over 30 years.
