Director of Youth Education
Location: Memphis, TN 38120
Beth Sholom seeks a Director of Youth Education to join our team in Summer 2021. This is a full-time position in which the individual works in coordination with the Rabbi, Executive Director, and lay leadership to help meet the educational needs of the membership, especially as it relates to our youth and their families.
The ideal candidate will be a MA-level Jewish educator or a BA-level educator with equivalent experience who is self-motivated, engaging, innovative, organized, and has strong communication skills. We seek someone who is a leader and excited about being a part of the leadership team of Beth Sholom. The ability to connect formally and informally with individuals and families is key, as is the ability to promote events and programs, within the synagogue as well as with the larger community.
They will serve in a planning and supervising capacity and must be willing to take a “hands on” approach to ensure that programs are successful. Depending on the interests and skill-set of the candidate, there are promising opportunities for collaboration with our local community Jewish day-school, the Bornblum Jewish Community School. Additionally, while the primary responsibilities of this role, and the needs of the congregation, relate to youth education, there are also opportunities for engaging our adult population in educational programming.
Beth Sholom is the Conservative synagogue in Memphis, TN. An egalitarian congregation of around 260 families, we are small enough to welcome everyone, and large enough to serve every Jewish life cycle need. We are a growing shul with high energy, and we have the potential for even more growth.
