Preschool Teacher

We are a Conservative Synagogue based Preschool in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative school culture. We seek an experienced teacher who knows and loves children and is committed to creating that warm environment that we are known for, in our threes classroom- while also offering just the right amount of challenge. We offer the opportunity to use your creativity to create an engaging, predominantly play based but also content rich curriculum with help from your assistant teacher and supportive colleagues.

Job responsibilities include: Manage a class of 14 three year olds using routines, clear expectations, and positive behavior strategies-while avoiding the use of punishments, time-outs, yelling, and rewards.

Implement a Jewish curriculum including teaching about Shabbat and Jewish holidays along with related songs, stories, cooking activities, crafts, and experiential activities.

Communicate clearly with director, assistant teacher, colleagues, and parents. Weekly newsletter. Parent Orientation. Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Keep up with required trainings and professional development and act in accordance with the philosophy of the school as described in school literature.

Ideal candidates will have a Masters in Education and NYS Certification and 2+years early childhood experience as a head teacher. Writing proficiency is required.

Willing to consider candidates who are working towards their Masters and Certification (on a study plan) with relevant experience
